GORE™ Protective Vent – High-Performance ePTFE Venting Element
The GORE™ Protective Vent is a precision-engineered component designed to provide continuous pressure equalization for sealed enclosures and hollow-core structures (like EPS surfboards or electronics housings). At its heart is the proprietary ePTFE (expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene) membrane, a world-leading technology that allows your equipment to "breathe" while staying completely protected.
The Technology: How it Works
The GORE™ membrane features a unique microporous structure with billions of pores. These pores are approximately 700 times larger than an air molecule, allowing gases and vapor to pass through freely. At the same time, they are 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water, creating an impenetrable barrier against liquids and contaminants.
Key Benefits
Automatic Pressure Relief: Rapidly equalizes internal pressure caused by temperature spikes or altitude changes, preventing stress on seals and protecting against structural deformation or delamination.
Superior Ingress Protection: Provides a reliable barrier against water, salt, dust, and dirt, ensuring the interior remains dry and clean even in the harshest marine or outdoor environments.
